2012 Republican Presidential Candidates Part I

The question on every political junkie’s mind as 2011 comes upon us is, who will be the 2012 Republican Presidential Candidates?  Thus far no candidate has officially declared and only a few are somewhat obvious choices.  Let’s start with the obvious candidates.

Mike Huckabee
The 2008 Iowa Caucus winner is all but a shoe-in to run again in 2012.  In addition, Huckabee finished second-overall in the 2008 Republican nomination behind winner John McCain.

Since the election Huckabee formed HuckPac to assist Conservative Republicans running for office nationwide.  This now gives him a strong ground game with a volunteer team that includes thousands of activists in all 50 states, including Iowa.

Mitt Romney
Romney finished second to Mike Huckabee (34.4% to 25.2%) in the 2008 Iowa Caucuses.  Romney went on to finished third-overall in the 2008 Republican nomination behind winner John McCain and runner-up Mike Huckabee.

Romney has a similar ground game ready to go after his 2008 run and has plenty of money of his own if necessary.  The bottom line is his strong second place finish in Iowa for a northeast candidate makes him a sure-thing to run in the 2012 Iowa Caucuses.

I agree with you Chris, people in the media and others are for some reason making it hard for him to gain ground, i think they are scared of him.

he’s won all these polls and nobody in the media is reporting it. I think it’s going to be this way until he finally announces. He’s got my vote!
