Former Utah Governor and ambassador to China, Jon Hunstman has announced his candidacy for president of the United States. He did it in Liberty State Park in New Jersey, which overlooks Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. It’s the location where Ronald Reagan kicked off his presidential campaign in 1980.
He is the ninth declared GOP candidate for the 2012 election.
Standing in front of the Statue of Liberty Huntsman boasted of Utah’s economic success as well as a grander look of America when he said, “The view of America from 10,000 miles away is a picture of liberty, opportunity and justice; people secure in their rights and in love with their freedom, who’ve done more good for more people than any other nation in history.”
Huntsman will not campaign in Iowa nor has he signed the anti-abortion pledge.
